You watch what you eat and exercise regularly — but the results aren't there. The scale isn't moving, or is moving very slowly. Fat seems to accumulate everywhere, especially around the hips and waist. If this sounds familiar, your metabolism may need a boost.
What is a slow metabolism?
Metabolism refers to all the chemical reactions your body carries out to convert food into energy. A so-called "fast" metabolism burns more calories, even at rest. A slow metabolism, on the other hand, converts a large portion of calorie intake into fat stores rather than readily available energy.
The warning signs of an overly slow metabolism are fairly characteristic: gradual weight gain without any change in diet, localized fat accumulation (especially around the stomach, hips, and waist), difficulty losing weight even with genuine effort, chronic fatigue, always feeling cold, and constant cravings for simple sugars. These signs may also be associated with developing insulin resistance.
The causes of a sluggish metabolism
Several factors can slow metabolism. Genetics play a role, but they don't explain everything. Hormonal imbalances are common: menopause, PCOS, and even chronic stress (via cortisol) can significantly slow fat burning. Lack of sleep disrupts the hormones that regulate appetite (leptin and ghrelin) and reduces calorie expenditure. Very restrictive diets are also counterproductive: when you consistently eat too little, the body switches to conservation mode and reduces its basal metabolic rate.
Age also plays a role: after age 30-35, basal metabolism gradually declines, partly due to loss of muscle mass. Since muscle is the tissue that burns the most calories at rest, the less muscle you have, the fewer calories you burn.
How can you naturally reactivate your metabolism?
The good news: a slow metabolism isn't inevitable. Several strategies can help get it back on track for the long term.
Increasing protein intake is one of the most effective approaches: protein has a high thermogenic effect (the body burns more calories digesting it) and preserves muscle mass. Physical activity, particularly strength training and resistance exercises, increases muscle mass and energy expenditure at rest. Good sleep quality and stress management complete the picture.
When it comes to supplements, certain natural ingredients support fat metabolism in a targeted way. The number one criterion: a clinically evaluated ingredient, at an effective dose, with measurable results. Avoid products that promise miracles without serious studies to back them up.
The Epycure solution to reactivate metabolism
Epycure's Metabolism Boost takes a different approach from traditional weight-loss supplements: rather than focusing on calorie restriction, it targets fat metabolism to help the body burn more, even at rest.
Its star ingredient is Morosil®, a patented extract derived from the juice of Moro blood oranges from Sicily, particularly rich in antioxidants (anthocyanins and flavonoids). It was clinically evaluated in a double-blind study of 60 volunteers (BMI 25-35 kg/m²) over 12 weeks, at a dose of 400 mg/day (the dose in our formula). Results: -7 cm in waist circumference, -6 cm in hip circumference, -3 kg on average. Significant results from 4 weeks.
The formula combines Morosil® with kola nut, which helps burn fat and contributes to weight control; choline, which contributes to lipid metabolism and the maintenance of normal liver function; and chromium, which contributes to maintaining normal blood glucose levels — thereby reducing the sweet cravings that often sabotage your efforts.
Fun format: 1 chewable tablet per day (blueberry or peach flavor), preferably taken before 3 p.m. Made in France, B Corp certified, vegan. And tested by the Lab'Epycure: up to -6.5 cm in waist circumference, -7 cm in hip circumference, -7 kg (20 people, 3 months).
For an even more complete approach — detox, fat burning, and drainage — our Weight-Loss Pack combines Metabolism Boost with the Weight-Loss Course and Draining Powder for a synergistic silhouette routine.
